Barely more than ten years after the birth of the World Wide Web, the Global Information Infrastructure is daily reality. In spite of the many applications in all domains of our societies: e-business, e-commerce, e-learning, e-science, and e-government, for instance, and in spite of the tremendous advances by engineers and scientists, the seamless integration of information and services remains a major challenge. The current shared vision for the future is one of semantically rich information and service oriented architecture for global information systems. This vision is at the convergence of progress in technologies such as XML, Web services, RDF, OWL, of multimedia, multimodal, and multilingual information retrieval, and of distributed, mobile and ubiquitous computing.
The goal of iiWAS2010 is to provide an international forum for scientists, engineers, and managers in academia, industry, and government to address recent research results and to present and discuss their ideas, theories, technologies, systems, tools, applications, work in progress and experiences on all theoretical and practical issues arising in information and service integration.

Special Issue on Agent Communication

Call for Papers
Special Issue on Agent Communication
ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology

Agent communication research seeks to address challenges in the
development of applications involving multiple autonomous and
heterogeneous agents. Agent communication differs from communication
as studied in traditional distributed systems in its emphasis of
high-level abstractions that enable flexible interaction yet support
verifying compliance. Broad applications include business
interactions, contracts and compliance, virtual enterprises,
negotiation, argumentation and decision support, and so on.

We invite quality submissions that develop new insights, high-level
abstractions, patterns, languages, formal theories, reasoning, and
methodologies for communication in multiagent systems.

Broad topics include

Protocols
Dialogs and argumentation
Virtual organizations, institutions
Commitments, norms, and other social concepts
Trust and deception
Correctness properties and their verification
Tying communication with agent design and execution strategies
Architecture, middleware, patterns, and programming language support
Standardization of communication primitives
Application-specific modeling and insights

International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART 2011)

ICAART 2011 (International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence - http://www.icaart.org) has an open call for papers, whose deadline is set for next July 08. The conference will be held in Rome, Italy next year, on January 28-30, 2011 and we hope you can participate in this prestigious conference by submitting a paper reflecting your current research.

The conference is sponsored by INSTICC and held in cooperation with the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA), the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). INSTICC is member of the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) and the Object Management Group (OMG).

The purpose of the 3rd International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART) is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the theory and applications in these areas. Two simultaneous but strongly related tracks will be held, covering both applications and current research work within the area of Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Software Platforms, Distributed Problem Solving and Distributed AI in general, including web applications, on one hand, and within the area of non-distributed AI, including the more traditional areas such as Knowledge Representation, Planning, Learning, Scheduling, Perception and also not so traditional areas such as Reactive AI Systems, Evolutionary Computing and other aspects of Computational Intelligence and many other areas related to intelligent systems, on the other hand. HTCO

The conference program features a number of Keynote Lectures to be delivered by distinguished world-class researchers, including those listed below.

Submitted papers will be subject to a double-blind review process. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on CD-ROM support. The proceedings will be indexed by several major international indexers, including INSPEC, DBLP and we are awaiting the confirmation of indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index and EI.
Additionally, a short list of the best presented papers of the conference will be selected so that revised and extended versions of these papers will be published by Springer-Verlag in a CCIS Series book.
Best paper awards will be given during the conference closing session.
All published papers will be also available at the SciTePress Digital Library.

Workshops and special sessions are also invited. If you wish to propose workshop or a special session, for example based on the results of a specific research project, please contact the secretariat.
